Rainy Days in Hollywood

The Cameraman (1928)

Buster has developed a crush on a pretty young secretary, Sally.  One rainy night, while he parts from Sally at a café, Sally impulsively leans forward and kisses him on the cheek.  He is so strongly affected by the kiss that he walks away in a daze, unconscious of the heavy rain that pours down on him.

Ben Model created a fascinating side-by-side comparison of this scene and a similar scene from Singin' In the Rain (1952).

A lovesick couple (Gene Raymond and Ann Sothern) takes a defiant walk in the rain in She's Got Everything (1937).
