Fun with Midjourney, Part 15: Mixing Up Film Genres

A fun game on Midjourney is to cross-pollinate film genres.  Garzelbarzel wondered what it would have been like if Pulp Fiction had been directed by Wes Anderson.  He made it more interesting by proposing set designs by H.R. Giger.

Due to his distinct and quirky style, Anderson turns up often in this game.  This is how Midjourney perceives an Anderson film.

So, how would that style work with Star Wars?

Or The Sopranos?

Ajslabs went for a Captain America film by Anderson.

Jonjonmiles applied Anderson's style to Suspira.

Richard Roche had lots of fun reimagining Jurassic Park as an Anderson film.

Humblebrick had the idea of recasting Fight Club with Jimmy Stewart and Marlon Brando.

He also envisioned Paul Thomas Anderson as the director of Vertigo.

CCF Dan contrasted an Easter egg hunt directed by Stanley Kubrick with an Easter egg hunt directed by Jordan Peele.

Now, I gave this game a try.

What if Pixar remade classic films like Vertigo, Gone with the Wind, Double Indemnity, On the Waterfront, Psycho and Citizen Kane?

What if we blended Rear Window and Home Alone?

Another Midjourney member, Oliver, had this idea before I did.  Here are his images.

Let us imagine Alfred Hitchcock as the director of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Or we could imagine Hitchcock as the director of Star Wars.

I thought that it would be interesting to see Marlon Brando as Norman Bates.

I had Midjourney recast The Wizard of Oz's Scarecrow and Tin Man as the hit men in Pulp Fiction.  I wasn't happy with the bizarre result.

I then asked the program to visualize a Quentin Tarantino-directd Wizard of Oz.

Why is The Scarecrow redesigned to lool like Freddy Krueger?  Why do we have three Cowardly Lions instead of one?  I have no idea.

Midjourney provided surprisingly pleasant images when I asked the program to show me what it might look like if Quentin Tarantino remade The Wizard of Oz for Pixar.

What if Vertigo was directed in the style of a Jerry Lewis movie?

What if Taxi Driver (1976) was directed by Wes Anderson?

What if Taxi Driver (1976) was directed by Frank Capra?

I like these images, but I can't say that they are Capraesque.  I came up with a different idea.  What if Jimmy Stewart played Travis Bickle?
