In 2001, I reported on my blog that, if you play the Frankenstein DVD while cranking up the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack on your stereo, you would discover that the music fits perfectly with the action on screen. It's true. It works right up till the end, when the villagers burn up the monster to "Disco Inferno."
It occurred to me last week that I could prove my point by editing together film clips from Frankenstein with song clips from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Sadly, I have to admit that I am no threat to Thelma Schoonmaker. It was easier for Dr. Frankenstein to stitch together cadavers than it was for me to edit these various pieces together.
